little minkoff is a celebration of the essence of Rebecca Minkoff for kids, featuring her distinct bohemian rocker style. As a mother of three young children herself, Rebecca designed the collection with her own kids in mind, using them as a source of inspiration.
Marking the brands fifteen-year anniversary, little minkoff is the brands first foray into creating an environmentally friendly collection, all of which is traceable via blockchain. “As the world of fashion and retail becomes more environmentally conscious, I felt it was the right moment to not only launch a kid’s clothing line, but to also make sure that we did so in a responsible and sustainable way,” notes Rebecca Minkoff. “As a mother I feel it’s imperative for this kind of meaningful change, especially in kids' clothing."
By partnering with technology company Resonance, Rebecca Minkoff was able to design, sell, and make a more sustainable collection by using their proprietary platform, create.ONE. In an effort to avoid the creation of unwanted inventory (which, if unsold, ends up in landfills or incinerated), Resonance only makes an order when it is placed by the customer, and all manufacturing occurs in the Americas in their factory in the Dominican Republic.
In addition to helping mitigate waste, each garment produced is made of fabric that is composed of up to 95% biodegradable material, bluesign chemicals (that are earth friendly), and uses 50% less water to produce. Each garment is also digitally printed on, not dyed, which uses 40% less ink, and helps to decrease the amount of toxic chemicals used in manufacturing processes.
The Rebecca Minkoff brand has four domestic retail stores, eight international locations, and is distributed in over 900 stores worldwide.
